Session Pointers

Baby Sessions

In my experience the “natural” look is stunning. No clothing to distract from their delicate little features. Being in their “Birthday Suit” isn’t necessary; a diaper is completely fine to achieve this. If you feel it is inappropriate, by all means do not do it. Please do not let my opinion hinder any of your decisions. After all, they are your photos…

Children Sessions

My feelings are to let the kids be kids. A photo can really come to life when children are doing what they naturally do. Bring their favorite blanket, toy, truck, etc… this will make them more comfortable. All children (even adults) have their own comfort zone. Sometimes it takes longer for children to reach these comfort levels with a stranger. We always teach our children not to talk to strangers, so this wall they put up may take a while to break until they realize I am a friend. Once we get past the wall, the time should go smoothly. I like to play with the kids and get on their level as best I can.  The best advice I can offer is to make sure the child(ren) is/are well rested and not hungry. Bring a snack if needed.

I will take photos of the children playing and having fun. I also will do some “posed” shots. In my experiences, if you follow a child around and let them be kids the photos will turn out much better.

Family sessions are very similar to children sessions. I once again will take the “standard posed” shots and any others you might like. I enjoy family portraits being more relaxed and comfortable. I want your experience with me to be an enjoyable one. If you have an idea for a shot, please let me know. I don’t want you disappointed because I didn’t set the pose up like you wanted… I will work with you 100% to capture what story you are trying to portray. PLEASE let me know what you are looking for and I will gladly try to create it…
